McCann Worldgroup has released a new poster campaign to promote ticket sales for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, with illustrations by HelloVon.

I love how simple these ads are and how well they work together.

This advertisement caught my eye on TV the other day and made me wonder what it was about and then when I found out I thought it was a really clever way to advertise the airline.  The advertisement sees the airline apparently evolving “the more poetic side of flying”, with a performance from two intertwined dancers.  Created by Advertising agency BETC Euro RSCG.

“Camilla Stephens is passionate about pies. She makes really yummy hand-made pies with high quality ingredients. Uncommon pies, in fact. We loved her pies too and saw the opportunity to open up a market appealing less to your hungry man in a van and more to a discerning female audience. ‘To nice for the price’ someone called – probable with a big mouthful of pie…” Zuggyrat Brands, Designer.

I love this packaging design and the feel of the entire look of the piece is just so lovely.  The illustrations are not in your face as they take on a lighter tone of the darker colour which is what I think makes it work so well. This goes into my box of designs that I wish I’d done.

Coombes has recently graduated from the University of Brighton in illustration and has a fascination with pattern, print and book design. I discovered one of her pieces while breezing the web and was led to her website where I found more beautiful pieces.  I really like her use of colours and how she brings all the elements together. Burnt Sugar is a boutique brand of fudge, started by Justine Cather when she nabbed her mum’s recipe and took it to the open market.

d-studio was asked by Justine to create a new direction for the brand and redesign the packaging. Together they designed the ‘everyone is different’ concept, which celebrates not only the irregular pieces but also the variety of people who like it.

Each pack was illustrated by a different illustrator so that they all have their own individual personality. Not a single font was used on any of the packs, every element was hand rendered, including the back of the pack which contains the statutory information.

Voila

“Voila takes information from the origin. A brand that aligns gourmet experience to practicality. that’s what Voila comes down to.” The Scene printed and craft quality shows the premium selected look.

I really like the simplicity of this packaging and how it’s put together. Also the use the colours all work together as part of a group.

Watmuff & Beckett

Created by Pencil, this has a very elegant feel with the clever line drawing of the ladle and fork that allows the enticing colour of the product to show through.

“The goal was to create a range of packaging that extended their brand. We used their lines illustrations to create utensils used on the products, it was mandatory we showed some of the product so we integrated this with the utensils to reveal a cleaver show through.”

This is a really nice website that I came across it has a particularly good navigation system and there are some extremely effective piece of work. It really is well worth a look. 

I observed one of Stephan Zirwes photographs and was amazed by the detail that he managed to captured. These also remind me of the work of Jenny Odell that I posted back in November (See her post here) 

Zirwes takes photos of many different views and manages to make everyday areas into pieces of art. I have posted some of my favourites. However you can view more by visiting  the site here.

This packaging is more about the copywriting than the design itself. To be honest the design doesn’t really do anything for me but the copy and concept are brillant. 

The Bitter Chocolatier tells his tales of misfortune throughout his life as he explores a variety of flavours.

I discovered this really nice illustration by Ian Bibey and felt I had to share it with you.  Given that it was an elephant made me fall in love with it all the more.

This book is lovely mix of short stories and illustrations. The idea was to create “a series of abridged pocket encylopaedias ‘inspired by fact and reworked by fiction’. Essentially, reference books with lies in.”

Short stories from a variety of writers based around three themes - Galleons, (scientist) Nikola Tesla and the Trans Siberian-Railway.  All mixed with illustration.
